How to install a printer when the hardware is not actually connected to the PC.

A Braillist may want to use a PC for translating documents to Braille when they do not actually have a ViewPlus embosser connected to their machine. However Tiger Software Suite (TSS) expects to find a ViewPlus embosser among the printer objects in the Devices and Printers control panel.

- Install the printer software and restart the PC.
- Open Windows Start menu and select Devices and Printers.
- Click Add Printer
- Choose Add a Local Printer and click Next.
- Select the radio button labeled Use an existing port, and select the File: (Print to File) option in the drop-down menu. Click Next.
- Select ViewPlus Technologies from the list on the left, and the model you will be working with on the right. Click Next
- Select the radio button labeled Use the driver that is currently installed (recommended) and click Next.
- Type a name for your embosser and click Next.
- Select the Radio button labeled Do not share this printer and click Next. (You may decide to share the printer but that is outside the scope of this article.)
- Clear the check box labeled Set as the default printer and click Finish. (The TSS add-in has its own place to specify the printer, which may be different from the Windows default printer.)
- Your ViewPlus embosser is now added as an printer object within the Devices and Printers Control panel. Now you may open Word, Click Add-Ins, Tiger, Formatter Settings, Document Settings, and select your newly installed ViewPlus embosser.
