Frequently Asked Question
Improving Toner Life Expectency
Last Updated 9 years ago
An Emfuse has 4 imaging drums and 4 toner cartridges: Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and Black. Each toner cartridge is locked into its own drum assembly. These parts are "consumables" and will need to be replaced occasionally.
Life expectancy of these consumables varies, depending on the type of printing you do. These figures are based on A4 paper size:
Drum: 20,000 pages
Toner: 15,000 pages
Toner: 15,000 pages
If you find you mostly print black text, and rarely require color, you may want to consider configuring your printer driver to print Grayscale instead of Color by default. This should help extend the life of your color toner and drum consumables.
To do this, go to Devices and Printers, right-click your Emfuse driver, and select Printing Preferences. Go to the Tiger tab and click the radio button labeled Grayscale and click OK. Note that the Emfuse will print black and white and shades of gray in this configuration by default now. If you want to print a job with color, you may choose preferences from your print dialog box and change it back to color for that job.
